Wrapping Up 2018 and Living Life Offline!

For the past few weeks, I’ve been stuck in a crazy warped mood, and unable to completely say goodbye to 2018. It’s not because I had such a great year and everything ended on a positive note, because it didn’t. To the contrary; things actually ended kind of bumpy for me last year – mentally speaking.

Prior to the month of November, I was super pumped about the upcoming NANO challenge. A look back at previous posts will show how excited I was about my pending novel idea (actually a rewrite of one of my former novels). I was anxious to get started on it, and I even created a website, in preparation for promoting the topic of the book – MERMAIDS. In addition to focusing on that, I somehow found the time to write a quick ebook, outlining all the useful steps I’ve taken in the past, to help me start and finish writing a book.

Things were going pretty good when November finally came, but I soon realized that REWRITING a book has its’ own set of issues, problems and concerns. I found myself encountering challenges that weren’t the same as when you’re first creating a story and plot. To add to that, something happened in my life that month that was like a slap in the face. I suffered a personal crisis that ended up threatening to stunt my emotional, mental, and most of all, CREATIVE growth. I became stuck in a loop of depression, uncertainty, and despair.

Ironically, I had already decided to take a year offline in 2019 and try and do some living in the real world. I announced it on all my other websites (those created for marketing and promoting my titles) and had planned to discuss it more after completing my latest novel. I initially planned to get out, socialize, network, and enjoy life more, all while promoting the new book. Now, my perspective on things have drastically changed.

To avoid a complete break-down (all kidding aside), I decided to change my entire focus. So I packed away all my book notes – digital and paper – and shut down my personal work space. For the time being, there will be no new novel to suck away more of my time and energy. No more working on some new article, blog post, tweet or promotional ad. But this time, I need a complete break from writing – even just making notes. I never believed being offline this coming year would be difficult for me to do, but NOT writing at all is something different altogether. For the past few decades, my mind has constantly remained in “writing mode” and there has always been one writing project after the other. I don’t know if I can really stop COLD TURKEY but for reasons of my own, I’m going to have to try. I have a lot of crap I have to figure out. I’m not sure when I’ll resume again, but if I’ve had any followers or true fans, I hope you continue reading my various titles that are still available on my AMAZON PAGE.

I GUESS I’LL SEE YOU NEXT LIFETIME.
