Honest Amazon Book Reviews Please: I Can Handle the Truth
Getting honest Amazon book reviews when you’re a new author can be like panning for gold at Knott’s Berry Farm; it’s not what it’s all cracked up to be! If’ you’ve ever panned for gold at Knott’s or a similar type of theme park, you know the reality. You and the kids can spend lots of money and time just trying to score a few nuggets of gold that is not even as valuable as it looks.
This is a lot similar to trying to get Amazon book reviews. You try everything, and some authors have even resorted to trying to pay for them (not me of course 🙂 Not only is it very off putting to us authors, but nowadays, some people are even questioning the true value of those reviews.
Obtaining genuine book reviews is a difficult feat, especially since Amazon reviewers have specific monetary requirements to meet. This policy can make it hard for authors. The same is true, whether you’re a new author with a new title, an existing author with a new title, or an existing author with an existing title. Amazon book reviews are hard to get, and to get honest ones is even harder.

We Can Handle the Truth
I wish for the love of me, I could understand why people who claim to want to support you can’t just provide an honest review. Don’t they know that we authors can handle the truth; we just want to hear some constructive feedback; positive or negative. Of course, that would mean that the individual would have to actually READ the book, in order to offer even a few honest words.
I can’t speak for anyone else, but instead of a lot of fake or superficial book reviews, I would really like to have a handful of honest reviews. I’d love it if they came from people who took a genuine interest who not only read, but reflected on my writing, enough to give a true appraisal. As an author, this is the kind of feedback I want for myself, that is why this is the kind of feedback that I like to try and provide to other authors.
If you’re a new author AND/OR you have a new title to promote, feel free to check out my page about how to request an Amazon book review from me, but only if you can handle the truth (LOL)
