Are You Closer than You Think to Becoming a Self-published Author?
If you’re an online writer, becoming an author may be something you want to do but you may not feel you’re at that point just yet. Don’t underestimate yourself; you may actually be closer than you think. Your reason to believe otherwise may stem from a lot of things. It’s not that you doubt your own writing talents and abilities; you’re just not ready to commit that kind of time and energy, right?
Many people work a “normal” full or part time job, in addition to the freelance writing that they do. Between that, family and other responsibilities, writing a book may be the furthest thing from your mind right now. But take my word for it, that will change. If you truly consider yourself a serious writer, there will come a point when you can no longer fight an overwhelming desire. You’ll be fed up with compliance and want “to write something exactly how YOU want it written”, not the client, not the rigid rules of a writing website; just YOU!
Your vision may be to write a steamy romance novel or whimsical work of fiction. Maybe you’ll research and document details for the next great “how to” book. Whatever that secret book in your heart is about, if the desire is there, it will eventually burn through. Don’t allow yourself to be fooled into a place of complacency about your writing career. Authorship is as it should be; the next logical step up for a serious freelance writer. You may not be ready to join the ranks of author just yet, but that shouldn’t prevent you from learning all you can right now.
